Privacy Policy for BlockFront

Introduction

Your privacy is of utmost importance to us. This Privacy Policy outlines the type of information we collect when you use our mod and connect to the BlockFront cloud, and how we use, handle, and store this information. We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure, used responsibly, and handled in compliance with applicable privacy laws.

1. Information We Collect

When you connect to the BlockFront cloud, you provide us with certain information, which includes:

• Minecraft Username: Your in-game identifier for your Minecraft account.
• Minecraft UUID: The unique identifier tied to your Minecraft account, serving as the identifier for your BlockFront profile.
• Hardware ID: A hashed identifier generated on your own device from hardware details (such as component serial numbers). Only the hashed result ever leaves your device; the underlying hardware details do not. The Hardware ID identifies your device to us, but does not reveal what hardware you own.
• IP Address: Your IP address is visible to our servers when you connect, as with any online service. We store it only in a hashed form (see Section 2).
• Mod Version and Integrity Hash: The version of the BlockFront mod you are running and a checksum of the mod file, used to verify authentic, up-to-date clients.

2. IP Addresses and Bans

To ensure a safe and enjoyable gaming environment for all players, we maintain ban lists for our servers, which may include hashed IP addresses and Hardware IDs.

Each time you connect, we store a hashed version of your IP address alongside your UUID. This is used for ban management and to detect duplicate ("alternate") accounts used to evade bans. We do not store your IP address in plain form in our database, and we do not use it for any other purpose.

3. Hardware ID

The Hardware ID helps us identify and manage user sessions, particularly when multiple users connect from the same IP address but different devices. It is also used to enforce hardware bans and to detect alternate accounts belonging to banned players.

Because the Hardware ID is a hash, no personal information, and no details about your hardware, can be read from it. It does, however, consistently identify your device to us, which is what makes fair and effective ban enforcement possible.

4. Chat and Moderation

We do not routinely store or log your in-game chat.

To keep the game welcoming, chat messages are checked against an automated language filter. If a message is flagged, that message, along with a few of your immediately preceding messages for context, your username, and your UUID, is forwarded to our moderation team for human review. Reviewed reports are held only briefly and are not kept in our long-term database.

5. Screenshot Command for Debugging and Moderation

Our mod includes a screenshot capability, functioning similarly to Minecraft's native screenshot feature (F2 hot-key), for debugging and moderation purposes. It captures only the Minecraft game window, never your desktop or other applications.

Our moderation staff may request a screenshot of your game while you are connected to official BlockFront servers, for example to investigate cheating reports. Screenshots are shown to the requesting staff member and are not stored on our servers. This capability is only active after you have accepted the BlockFront rules in-game.

By using our mod and accepting the rules, you consent to the potential use of this capability during gameplay.

5.1 Screenshot Command on Third Party Servers

Server owners on third-party servers may use the in-game screenshot command for various purposes, including moderation. Screenshots are not stored by the server but may be distributed by the user of the command.

Users should be aware that the use of this command on third-party servers is governed by the policies of those servers. If you have concerns about its use on a third-party server, you may opt to disconnect from that server at any time.

While we cannot directly moderate third-party servers, we encourage a respectful community around our mod. Please report any misuse or abuse of the screenshot command to us.

6. Gameplay Data and Statistics

To power progression, leaderboards, and social features, we store gameplay data linked to your UUID, including:

• Match history: Per-match results such as kills, deaths, assists, score, and team. Individual match records are automatically deleted after 30 days.
• Profile statistics: Lifetime totals, ranks, achievements, challenges, unlocked items, and loadouts.
• Social features: Friends lists, clan membership, and map ratings.

We publish aggregated, anonymous statistics (for example, per-map team win rates). These aggregates never include individual player data.

7. Optional Account Linking

You may optionally link third-party accounts to your BlockFront profile:

• Discord: If you link your Discord account, we store your Discord user ID alongside your UUID to provide Discord-based features. You can unlink at any time.
• Patreon: If you link your Patreon account, we store your Patreon ID and membership tier to grant supporter benefits. Access tokens are stored encrypted. We never receive your payment details, which remain with Patreon.

8. Third-Party Services

BlockFront relies on a small number of third-party services:

• Mojang: We verify your login through Mojang's official session servers, the same mechanism used by all Minecraft multiplayer servers. A temporary randomized authentication token is used for this; it does not grant us access to your Minecraft account.
• Discord: Our moderation team operates through Discord, so moderation material described in this policy (flagged chat, screenshots, ban notices, including your username and UUID) is transmitted through Discord's platform. Additionally, if you run Discord alongside the game, the mod can display your current BlockFront activity (username, rank, game mode, and map) as Discord Rich Presence on your own profile.
• Modrinth and our content delivery servers: The mod periodically checks for updates and downloads them from these services. No personal data is sent in these requests beyond your IP address being visible to the service, as with any download.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with any third party for advertising or analytics purposes.

9. Security of Your Information

We implement various security measures to ensure the safety of your personal information. IP addresses are hashed before storage, Hardware IDs are hashed on your device before transmission, and linked account tokens are stored encrypted. Access to personal information is restricted to authorized personnel.

10. Data Retention

Information is retained only as long as necessary for the purposes outlined in this policy. In particular: individual match records are deleted after 30 days, session authentication data is deleted within a day, and moderation review material is held only briefly. Profile data (statistics, items, friends, clan membership) and ban records are retained while relevant to providing the service and keeping it safe.
